Installing the eBudgets client

These steps should be carried out using a local admininistrator account. (if you don't have one, let me know and I'll come by).

  • Make sure the dot net framework (version 1.0) is installed. If necessary, it can be installed from \\corpapp\data$.
  • Right click on "My computer", choose manange, expand the "Local users and groups" sign, then click on groups. Double click on the Power users group and make sure it contains either your specific userid (e.g. ads\youruserid) or ads\Domain Users.
  • Now you're ready to install the client.

Development

    • Start Internet Explorer, and navigate to the development installation site and click on the install client link and follow the instructions. When it asks if you want to install "for everyone" or "Just me", select for everyone, so that regular accounts will get an icon on their desktop.
    • Edit the configuration file located at c:\Program Files\Influatec Inc\Influatec Client (Test)\ApplicationConsole.exe.config. Replace all occurrences of the string "syslab07/Influatec" with "ratbert.uwaterloo.ca".

Production

    • Start Internet Explorer, and navigate to [the production installation site and click on the "Client Install" link and follow the instructions.
Replace all occurrences of the string "ted/Influatec" with "tim.uwaterloo.ca".

  • Copy the file z:\hrms\BudgetsEncumberances\Influatec\v4 upgrade\EbudgetsClient Install\WaterlooclientInitial-Test[1].msi to the local machine in folder c:\Program Files\Influatec Inc\Influatec Client (Test). This file is required when other users sign on.

Regular user account steps

You can now sign off the administrative account and sign on with your regular account. The last step is to add ratbert (for development) or tim (for production) to the "Trusted Sites" list for your account. Do this as follows :

  • Start up IE, choose Tools, then Internet options. Select the Security tab, click on the Trusted Sites icon, then click on the Sites button. Enter http://ratbert.uwaterloo.ca or http://tim.uwaterloo.ca to the list here and then click on the Add button, then Close, then OK.
  • Open Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Microsoft .Net Framework Wizards, double click Adjust .Net security, make changes to this computer (default). Then at the security level for each zone screen, select the Internet zone and click on the default button, which should drop it down from full (where we had set it) to low trust. Then select the Trusted Sites zone, and make sure the slider bar is pushed all the way up to full trust. Then click Next, then Finish.
